However, investigations and medical results determined that the minor had recent facial injuries and old scars, evidencing child abuse. The prompt and timely follow-up of the investigations led to linking the victim's stepfather, who was caring for her at the time of her death. These investigations continue, as the suspect was transferred for the corresponding procedures under the orders of the Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor's Office of West Panama. Through a search and seizure warrant in the Herrera district of La Chorrera, the National Police, in conjunction with the Public Ministry, apprehended a man wanted for his alleged involvement in investigations into crimes against life and personal integrity in the form of femicide, and against the legal and family order in the form of child abuse, to the detriment of his 2-year-old stepdaughter. The incident arose after the death of a minor was reported on Wednesday, December 3rd of this year, in the Villa Panorama area following a supposed fall.
